The Bronze Lens Film Festival of Atlanta, Georgia is a non-profit organization founded in 2009, that is dedicated to bringing national and worldwide attention to Atlanta as a center for film and film production for people of color. In fact, the mission of the Bronze Lens Film Festival of Atlanta, Georgia is two fold: to promote Atlanta as the new film mecca for people of color; and to showcase films and provide networking opportunities that will develop the next generation of filmmakers.

Over the course of 4 days in mid-November, during the Soul Train Awards weekend, film lovers, actors, and film makers gathered in the culture-and-heritage-rich Atlanta at the Marriott Marquis to share a creative platform of education, entertainment and empowerment discussions relating to film, television, and the production of both.

My girl Stephanie Abdullah rocked out at this year's Soul Train Awards Weekend in Atlanta. While there, she served as a creative correspondent for CREATIFFCHATTER.com. Check out her lively recap of this year's events.

Let’s give it up to BET and Centric for bringing back our favorite award show-The Soul Train Awards! This year’s show features talent you can’t get enough of and others whom you’d like to see more of. Atlanta hosted the show for the second consecutive year, yet this time at the Cobb Energy Center. You take YOUR pick, but the man of the hour for me was El DeBarge! Can we say “come back” of the century??? You gotta tune in for the Soul Train pre-show because El and Faith open with the hot mid-tempo song, Lay With You from El’s forthcoming Second Chance project (in-stores & online, November 30th). His vocals haven’t changed one bit and the man has got to be about 50, when I say FINE as he EVER was-man I was Mrs. James DeBarge back then, but El, right now is what’s up. And how bout, he gave me a “Hey Girl!” I’m still fanning myself. Congrats to you Mr. Eldra DeBarge and Welcome back to where you’ve always belonged-in my Welcome Back Kotter voice-“well the names have all changed since you ran around, but the dreams that remain can’t be turned around. Who’da thought they lead ya-back here where we need you!” I’m just putting it out there, but can we get a DeBarge reunion tour jumping off? I’m just saying!

Next to El, my second favorite moment was greeting my boy Lamman Rucker on the red carpet (which was purple by the way!) The man looked me up and down. I thought he was peepin the fact that I’d taken off my shoes and was down to my socks! But, no!!!!

“I’m not looking at your feet. I’m looking at you….ALL of you…because I haven’t seen you in so long!” Can we say nearly fainting on the carpet! Shout out to Ericka Boston of Sister 2 Sister for taking that quick pic of me and Lamman!

Er’body was on the purple carpet: Chili and her boo. He’s white by the way and a cutie. And Chili just won’t age. She’s keeping it hot and fly! Go Chili. My girl Kita and her girl Mo…i.e. Kita and Mo from the T.O. Show were stunning in silver on the carpet. Shout out to them for creating, executive producing and starring in their own reality show while still keeping up with their publicist duties! Free and AJ were on the carpet-not together, but it’s good to see them. Sorry BET, but 106 & Park hasn’t been the same since they left. Here’s a suggestion-how about the Free and AJ show-targeted to the 30s and up crowd?????

Taraji and Terrance Howard made their way down the carpet and came all the way to the end, whereas some talent (Chili and others-but I ain’t say no names did I?) did a few stops then disappeared. Taraji even remembered to double back to one outlet after she’d been prematurely pulled away earlier on. Both she and Terrance seemed to recognize me from our various LA run ins and made sure to shout me out even though I was standing back and not doing any interviewing. Go Terrance and Taraji!!!! (Tiff, next time, maybe I’ll bring a recorder and get some interviews!:)

Haven’t seen Sunshine Anderson in a minute, but she was there looking fly. And I didn’t even recognize Melanie Fiona until I saw her accept an award during the show! But, she was rocking out on the carpet and looking stunning.

Dwele and Tank made their way down the carpet and Tank performed during the show. You’ll see how he inspired Jamie Foxx’s Unpredictable album once he takes to the piano during his performance. Tank nailed it…to my surprise. Biz Marki and Kid Capri were on the carpet too. Kid’s looking all grown man. Nice to see our legendary hip hop DJs still doing what it do. And why is Doug E. Fresh looking so young now? Awhile back he’d put on some weight, but it sholl is gone now! Looking good Dougie! Catch him teaching CNN’s Wolf Blitzer how to Dougie! Where in the world did they pull Wolf Blitzer from and why?????? It was super cute though!

Who else breezed down the carpet? I’m tryna think?????? Oh yeah, how could I forget the S the Double the U the V. Still loving Sisters With Voices. They are still bringing it. So, don’t miss their performance. Janelle Monae-beautiful! Demetria McKinney from House of Payne-she’s super tall (or was it her shoes?) She’s very beautiful and had real good energy about her. Keisha Knight Pulliam-Rudy is all grown up. She and Raven Simone introduced an award; too cute. Jesse Jackson even made his way down the carpet…well…out to the carpet…not sure that he actually did press.

Production turned the power off on the carpet and y’all know what it means when the lights go off-get in the house! It was an effort to get the show started on time. Well, the show still ran until 1:30am! It’ll be really interesting to see how they edit it down to two hours.

For your musical and viewing pleasure, R. Kelly opens the show! While he misses a note during the performance, it in no way spoils the rest of his set. He nails a medley of his hits before going into his new single-When a Woman Loves. Watch him rip it! He’s looking all yummy these days with his hair cut all low. I heard the album, which came out last December is da bomb! I gotta get it-on real CD. I like the whole packaging thing. I-tunes is good for singles, but with Rruh, I gotta have the real thing.

Anita Baker and Ronald Isley received Lifetime Achievement awards and were honored with performances of their hottest songs by some of today’s hot artist. Dionne Farris of Arrested Development even rocked out on one of Anita’s songs! El was apart of the Ron Isley tribute as was Eric Benet. Shout out to Eric. I worked with him during my brief stint at Warner Bros. Records and he always shows me love!

I might have missed it, but was there a gospel performance during the show????? Hmmmm Don Cornelius always had one, if I remember, right?

The Soul Train scramble board is ridiculously funny. So, watch out for that. I was hanging out in the Soul Train Social Media lounge throughout the show.

BET downgraded their media center to just a few key one on one outlets and set up a social media lounge. The room was filled with folk like me, tweeting, Facebooking and blogging about the show. Such a great idea! Keep that going. It definitely gets people hyped for the show, which airs on November 28th on both BET and Centric. BTW, Centric airs old Soul Train episodes. Call your cable operator if you’re not getting Centric.

I didn’t see her take the stage, but India.Arie was in the building and seemed to really be enjoying herself. Isn’t Cee-lo from Goodie Mob? He just done became a character and left them in the dust. See him in a crazy solo performance of F You and in the Ron Isley tribute.

Ron Isley-51 years in the game! Shout out to R. Kelly again cuz he revived that man’s career with that Mr. Biggs stuff. Yall remember that video? Brought Ron and the Isley’s back to life and they ain’t looked back since. Man, next year, Soul Train needs to get Charlie Wilson and the Gap Band. Snoop and ‘nem helped bring Uncle Charlie back. Shout out to “new” skool bringin back old skool. They need to bring somebody back-all the daggone sampling of these people’s songs they do.

Shout out to all the talent who cared enough to stop by the social media lounge: Eric Benet, Kim Fields, El DeBarge, Ray J., Fonsworth Bentley, Dionne Farris, Anita Baker, Elise Neal, Lalah Hathaway, Rachelle Farell, and Ginufine-Ooops I meant to say Ginufine-oops why do I keep doing that? Ginuwine was in the building! And Elgin Lumpkin is still yummy. Sole was in the building too. Guess they keeping it together.

Sidebar-why does Kim Fields look like Janet Jackson? BTW, she said her favorite Soul Train moment was when she appeared on the show and sang-Dear Michael. Some of y’all don’t know ‘bout that song right there! But, if you know me, soon as she said it-I burst out with the chorus on her!!!! LOL Just cuz we are talking about favorite Soul Train moments, who really can pick just one???? My favorite Soul Train moments are ALL of the episodes on which New Edition and DeBarge appeared. However, my favorite Soul Train award moment may just be the dance battle between Taraji and Terrance. Catch Terrance and his boys stanky leggin while Taraji and crew whip that hair! She wore a cute red and black short outfit during the battle. But, from the back, she was looking really Olivia Newton John in that last performance scene from Grease! Now, that I think of it, the Boyz II Men Soul Train Award opening with Please Don’t Go back in 1993 ranks pretty daggone high on my list of favorite Soul Train Award moments. Man, we used to be late for the awards every year and miss the opener. But, we knew the Boyz were opening with that and we wouldn’t miss one note! Yeah, that’s how long I been Soul Train Awarding! My very first one was in 1990. We snuck in! LOL!

Then we bumped into Tommy Brown and of course he got us into all the VIP action. I have DIGRESSED! LOL All and all the Soul Train Awards 2010 was hot!

The award show wasn’t the only party in town. Some of yall may remember back in the day when Def Jam used to throw those Pre Soul Train parties??? Can we say OFF the chain! Well, Jamie Foster Brown and Sister 2 Sister have grabbed the torch on this and hosted a 22nd Anniversary party the night before the awards. Er’body was in the building! And Jamie was stunning! I mean daggone fabulously stunning! I was bumping into the homies all over the place too: Sheri Riley, April Love, Kita Williams, Ronda Penrice (author of African American History for Dummies. Pick up a copy today), Barry Florence, Kim Cooper and even my boy Darius McCrary.

Darius told me he has an album coming out and it’s tight. He told me our mutual friend Bobby Brown came through the studio and blessed him with some background vocals! Go Bobby! Darius showed me mad love and he’s looking sooooo grown man these days too. Last I heard he’s doing the Young and the Restless thing…so you soap opera buffs, check him out on there. Chef G. Garvin, my church brother was in the building and was nicer than he’s ever been to me. He’s talking about possibly being back in ATL full time. LA will miss him. Oh! And my girl Stacii J-hadn’t seen her in forever. She’s working for the ATL Mayor [Kasim Reed] and personally introduced us. Thanks Stacii!

I first saw this video on VH-1 Soul (love the channel) a few weeks ago. What I saw was an attractive man singing in a classy video, so I paid attention. I thought for sure the video was old and that I missed it during my non-having cable days, so I waited with excitement for the video chyron to appear and it read, KAREEM RUSH. Kareem Rush as in former L.A. Lakers Kareem Rush?? I was all a buzz and went on a serious google search for more details and discovered that he is just as passionate about singing as basketball.

And since he was waived from the Clippers due to a torn ACL, he has some time to showcase his additional talents. I'm sure the ladies are happy!

CREATIFF "new" Artist SPOTLIGHT: ROB JAY

Rob Jay is emerging as one of hip hops brightest young talents. From his witty word play to his diverse subject range he has all of the tools neccesary to take it to the next level. Over the past six months, media outlets have begun to take notice. In December, he was recognized as one of America top 100 unsigned artist by Music Connection Magazine. This led to coverage in Urb Magazine, East of L.A. and a selection to headline The Armed Forces Entertainment Tour in Southwest Asia.

As his buzz continues grow, he has remained focused on his ultimate goal for 2009. "Coming into this year my goal was to be selected as one of Hip Hops Top Freshmen in The December 2009 issue of The XXL. I'm doing everything in my power to get it, and even if I don't reach that goal, the pursuit of it has led me to get press and coverage on a level that I haven't seen before."

OBSESSED Tops Box Office

Congrats to OBSESSED for topping the box office charts this past weekend. According to Reuters.com, the movie pulled in $28.5 million in ticket sales. I tell you, this movie was one of those that you hoped would do well because you like the actors, but I just wasn't sure. I'm glad I went in with an open-mind because I came out a "Facebook status updating supporter" of the film.

Because I'm not a fan of Beyonce's acting--AT all, I was concerned about rushing out to see a film that didn't involve her drawing on to her God given gifts of singing and performing. I like her, so I always want to support the moves she makes; and of course, her leading guy, Idris Elba, has ALL of my support. All types of fine, right?

Beyonce did her thing when she brought her Sasha Fierce attitude out toward the end. I was so feeling Mrs. Beyonce's character when she stepped up and stepped- out to defend her family, go B! Oh, and the stalker girl, Ali Larter, she was nerve-rattling impressive. Check the film out if you haven't seen it.

For you musically obsessed fans like myself. If you heard the beautiful
love song in the movie during the viniettes when Idris' character Derek
was going back and forth returning his kids to the home. The song that played
was called Destiny by Zero 7. I'm so ashamed it took me to see OBSESSED before I became aware of this amazing group.

CREATIFF FLICKS- TYSON

"My Insanity is My Sanity"..........one of the many powerful quotes spoken by Mike Tyson as he journeys through his life with writer/director, James Toback (Bugsy, Harvard Man)in the documentary, TYSON.

TYSON, a Sony Pictures Classic release and winner of the Regard Knockout Award at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival is solely narrated by the former champ himself. Mike recounts events and experiences starting from his childhood in Brooklyn, to his most recent troubles involving drug abuse, the fights, and all of the controversy in between; including his high-profile divorce from actress Robin Givens and his rape conviction in 1992.

Mike used no sugar to coat his honesty and delivery. Within the first 15 minutes, I was emotionally overwhelmed and wanted to hug the screen. From the film, I gathered that many of Mike's associates received a greater gain from being in his corner than he received from being Mike, the heavyweight champion. He was what people needed to advance their lives and career interests, and without reciprocity- combined with an unstable upbringing, he became a human shell of himself.

An additional highlight of the film was Mike's colorful way of using words. He used words that had a few of us navigating the internet to find their meaning; my favorite, SKULLDUGGERY (an instance of dishonest or deceitful behavior; trick).

I strongly recommend this film and will even go the distance and suggest it as learning material for the youth. The What Not To Do's and how to avoid taking unnecessary courses at the School of Hard Knocks. The language is strong and suggestive, but the overall message will balance out Mike's graphic way of delivering his life's truth.

The film is awesome. I promise you-- no SKULLDUGGERY in this review. :)

Mike Tyson shared his thoughts on the film, "It's almost like, when you've been down for so long and then brought back up- it's almost uncomfortable."

On advice he would give to Chris Brown right now, he states simply, "He'll be fine; he'll be fine."

Woman's Hair Weave Saves Her Life

A Missouri woman is thanking God, and her hair weave for saving her life after her car was riddled with bullets by her ex-boyfriend after he learned she was no longer in love with him.

One of the bullets became tangled in her sewn in weave tracks, which prevented the bullet from penetrating her head.

CREATIFF REVIEW: Tyler Perry's, Madea Goes To Jail

Hallelujer…Tyler Perry brings Madea back to the screen in his latest feature, MADEA GOES TO JAIL! Warning: Scenes with Madea will cause loud and uncontrollable outbursts of laughter.

One would wonder, what type of trouble could a pistol-carrying, elderly woman, possibly get herself in that would land her in all places, JAIL!! Well, let’s just say, after yet another run-in with the “po-po’s,” Madea has exhausted all of her life-lines, tap-danced on the wrong judge’s nerves and ends up serving time in jail.

Derek Luke (Notorious, Antwone Fisher) co-stars in the film as, Josh Hardaway, a rising Asst. District Attorney who takes on a case involving a young drugged-out prostitute, Candace Washington, played by Keshia Knight Pulliam (Cosby Show, The Gospel). As Candace’s case continues to build, Josh starts to feel responsible and connected to Candace’s struggle, so rather than allow his inner conflicts to become tangled in the court preceding, he passes the case on to his female colleague, Linda Holmes (Ion Overman), who also happens to be his fiancée.

While in jail, Candace encounters, Madea who dishes out wisdom and encouragement to her, all while serving as a source of comfort and strength.

At the film’s press junket in Beverly Hills, Keisha Knight Pulliam shared insight on her experience playing a prostitute--a far cry from her role as the youngest, Huxtable on The Cosby Show, “it was the biggest stretch and the hardest I’ve had to work at a character and a role, and that’s really why I took it, because I wanted that challenge. Honestly, at the end of the day, she’s [Candace] like everyone of us, it’s about choices- it was door A or door B, and sometimes when you choose door B, it will take you down a path that’s a life altering path. But I think the story behind her is we all have choices, and no matter how bad or destitute the situation is, there’s always a way back,” she says.

I had a few minor issues with character development and at times found myself wondering why Tyler did or did not make certain choices in moving the film forward. There was however, a great scene with Josh and Academy Award nominated actress, Viola Davis who played Ellen, a counselor to abused women that really stood out and struck an emotional chord.

But it was the larger than life presence of Madea that was truly delightful and tightened up laugh muscles I hadn’t used since Madea made her last on-screen appearance in Madea’s Family Reunion. Since there’s always room for improvement and I assume everyone believes that—including the proven successful Tyler Perry, I decided to enjoy Tyler’s intended purpose of the film--to make people laugh, and laugh I did- and out loud too—many times--with no restrictions.

I recommend this film to anyone who needs to LOL! See it with friends and family--in theaters only!

Last Saturday, thanks to my girl MACKDIVA, I attended Lil' Wayne's Grammy party at Hotel Montage in Beverly Hills.

Mr. Wayne, I tell ya, has carved out a special place in the music section of my heart. His current project, Tha Carter III, is a hip hop masterpiece well worthy of all the honor and recognition it has received.

No Expense Spared:

The party theme: Mardi Gras. The food: N'awlins best (omg, I had the best Jambalaya, Greens and corn muffin ever. That dag on corn muffin was ridiculously-tasty). The drinks: Free Flowing. The Atmosphere: Comfortable, Diverse, Fly & Sexy. And in honor of Wayne's smash hit single, "Lollipop," the "candy girl" light went off in my brain and I ended up bringing my own lollipops to the affair, and let's just say.... I made a whole "lotta" friends at the party because of that idea, and even convinced MACKDIVA to get involved with the sucker distribution.

Attendees were also treated to a performance by Cash Money/Universal Republic artist, Kevin Rudolph.

This new singer on the rise, Jaqui "Qui" Rice, daughter of legendary wide receiver Jerry Rice is preparing to release her debut project, Luv 'N Life, fall 2009. The first single, "Rev' It Up," features rapper David Banner. Qui describes her style as a cross between Janet Jackson & Aaliyah. Based on her two musical influences, I'd wondered if she was also open to following in her dad's footsteps to the ballroom floor and competing on Dancing With The Stars, to that shes giggles and says, "you know what, I would do it. I love dancing; it's in my soul and blood, and I get a little bit of my skill from my dad, so you may see me there."

Wow! Time keeps on tickin', tickin', tickin'.... into the future!! Welcome to 2009!! Alive in a new year & a new President; 2009 is alright with me. Since I am so anti- New Year's Resolutions, and all of the hype surrounding the New Year, I do not engage myself with the "newyearism" energy that last for a week, maybe the month. I need some long term change. The only way we will be out- with- the- old- and in -with- the- new is if we do the work before the New Year. I so wish the old year would've swallowed my issues and concerns, but most of those tagged along with me into the '09. Out- with- the- old- in -with- the- new, that's a cool slogan, but there's work to do, and if we do the work, we may not have to wait until the next year for the miraculous change we so desire. I have soooo MANY changes to make, some I'm tackling, others I'm just thinking about them, and already procrastinating, a lot, but fighting to get on track so I won't fall back into the "same ole same ole :)

I campaigned so hard for Barack Obama, so you know I'm thrilled about the results. I had the opportunity to do a Q&A interview with Ralph Tresvant of New Edition (my all time favorite group) and have it published in the Urban Network entertainment trade magazine, I was selected to do a beauty product review for the January '09 issue of Upscale magazine, and attend & cover red carpet & entertainment events for this site. All I can say is, I'm open for more and expecting more.

My Love (ly) Life
Well, I thought I was going to update my status to "in a relationship" -that didn't carry over into the New Year. I was so open and available for it too, and I liked the fact that I tried. I thought I was going to be afraid of a relationship, but this particular effort, looking back was exciting to try. Exciting because being vulnerable was freeing, and I had a chance to apply the wisdom and inspiration I gained from being single to a possible healthy relationship. This guy was a whole lot of things, but he wasn't the one for me, and I didn't "hang in there' and try to "make it into something" that my heart loudly expressed it wouldn't be. I recognized, well I always recognize, but oftentimes ignore signs but these particular signs would've had me calling family and friends singing, T-Pain's, "Chopped & Screwed."

Speaking of family, my mother says I'm "too picky" (lol); she's always reminding me of men that are interested in me, and my dad, over breakfast on Christmas Day, predicted I would marry a white man; well I did send a public shout out to John Mayer via this site, but now that he is unavailable, again, I have to back off, because women who love men, know that being involved with a man who's physically and emotionally unavailable will not work. I'm proud of myself for following my heart and intuition on this one because I'm so anti "auto-tune," and I wouldn't have wanted to sing "Chopped & Screwed," although, I must say, that's a pretty hot song..screwwwweed, screwwwweed, screwwwwwed, chopped & screwwwed.

And to my favorite man, my dad, black men, white men, and all the wonderful shades in between, are fine with me, and I know you could care less about color, and just want the guy to love and adore me almost as much as you do. I know, I know. You just make sure you have your one-of-a kind suit ready to walk me down the aisle. :)

I must say, because of the remakes and remixes, I can now listen to her version all the way through. Funny story: I ran into Michael Ealy on my flight to Denver for the DNC back in August. Sure, I've always thought he was a "cutie" but my travel buddies, I'll call them M & M and LBoogie, admired him more than I did at the time. One of my friends was so speechless she could barely move to put her luggage in the overhead compartment. He's a mystery to me, I can't quite put my finger on him, which is why he is so intriguing. He has truly won me over. Enjoy!

Ain't No Future In Yo Frontin'-R.I.P. MC Breed

Such sad news! MC Breed passed away yesterday (Sat. Nov 22, 2008) at the age of 37. In September, Breed was hospitalized and placed on life support when his kidneys failed during a pick up game of basketball.

Heartfelt sympathies to his family and those who knew him well. MC Breed was truly one of the hottest lyricists. Ain't No Future In Yo Frontin', is one of my top hip hop jams ever. I so wanted to join the ranks of the female rappers when I heard his flow back in the early 90's, (well, umm, I did briefly try to rap, but that was so short lived). I can rap every word to that song with a super sick cadence. :)

My First Night In Denver- Party with a Purpose Time

Fresh off the airplane, straight to a party. We arrived in Denver pretty late and missed the Hill Harper book release and grown & sexy, hip hop party featuring, Whodini, Biz Markie, Slick Rick & Doug E. Fresh. Urrgh, I was a bit hurt we didn't make it in time for this party. We did however arrive as the partygoers were exiting the venue, and just in time to watch an impromptu sidewalk fraternity step show. Too much fun and excitement. The post college "steppers" sent the Denver cops, who were on hand "just in case", into a semi-frenzy. The cops had no idea the men, suited and booted would break out into a full on School Daze step show outside of the venue. Hilarious. Great times indeed.

DNC: The Big Day- "That One" Speaks

Omg, Mark made our day. If it were not for Mark, things could've turned out a bit different for Lashan and myself. The 2nd day of our trip we were told we would have 4 tickets to attend Barack's speech. All good, 4 was exactly what we needed.. Well, the day of the event, our 3rd day in Denver, we learned there was a serious misunderstanding and that tickets would not be available to us. Ohhh gosh, it was too early in the morning and I was operating on 5 minutes of sleep when I learned of the news. Ok, what do we do, who do we call? I was so out of my element, I didn't know how to resolve an admittance problem for a political event. Making a long story short, our travel buddy Danna connected with some Delegates from California and Alabama and secured 3 tickets, and the last one came from a total stranger by the name of Mark. Lashan and I approached Mark, a gentleman who just happened to be walking behind us as we entered the hotel to pick up our 3rd ticket. At this point, I told Shan, "we're gonna just have to ask total strangers". We turned around to Mark........and the rest is part of history. Thanks Mark!!

The officers were like none I've witnessed before; just pleasant. They gave out water and passed out these really cute "stay positive" signs. . Protesters were in full -effect. Finally, I made it inside of Invesco Field. I still can't believe I'm in this photo. How great!. When one has an idea, mixed with some planning, teamwork, follow through and creativity, win win situations are created. I'm referring to the trip experience I had with my friends. An unbelievable blessing! Everything from each one of us having our very own row on the airplane (a big deal since we were in coach) to arriving safely into the city, upgrading from a compact car to a roomy SUV, w/no extra charge or strings attached, and to lodging at one of the most amazing residences in the Denver area. We were operating off of favor for real. My 2 hours of sleep smile. This is just before the Senator gave his acceptance speech.

All of the parties were fab, but this one was really nice because it followed Mr. Obama's moving acceptance speech. Attending the DNC's after parties was an experience that tripped my mind out. I was tripped out because there was NO!! drama getting in. There were NO issues. And those oh so famous "girls & guys at the door and velvet rope , with the guest lists", we've all experienced them at many parties, they were very pleasant to interact with. Everyone was so nice. We RSVP'd while we were in L.A., and once we arrived to Denver, we received daily text messages confirming our attendance approval and party details. A super shout out to Kenny Johnson, The Richmond Group and Perennial Strategies for putting together the entertainment activities. I've attended one too many parties with guest list confusion, but the parties during the DNC for sure fall into the "one of the best" category.

Attending the 2008 DNC was an experience I will never forget. I cried everyday for 2 weeks after returning home, and I still cry off and on when I think of my experience. There were so many things going through my mind while there; my life's purpose, how much African Americans have progressed in this country. I thought about my grandparent's, who are all deceased, I wondered how they would feel about the possibility of America electing its first African American president. I thought about the "Audacity of Hope". I flashed back to my visit at Ebenezer Church, what would Dr. King think if he were here? I'm hopeful that the visual of a Barack and Michelle team will inspire us to heal our families and mend hearts.

I'm the offspring of generations who fought, struggled and sacrificed. I really haven't struggled. I've never looked at myself as a "victim", "the man" is not holding me down. I do sometimes wonder if I am doing enough with my life to make generations before me proud. What's my excuse? I can do anything, why am I not taking advantage of opportunities, why am I procrastinating? Why am I sometimes afraid to try and more afraid of the responsibility that comes with success? Why don't I ask for help or allow people to know I could use a helping hand at times? Soooo many things ran through my brain. I was paralyzed in thought, but inspired beyond belief at the same time. I haven't been the same since Denver and I don't think I ever will.

Let the unravelling begin.

I appreciate black men who embrace their greatness and refuse to dumb themselves down, and Stephen "Screamin" A is a the perfect example. The sincere honesty, and integrity he brings to the sports world, I aspire to do the same in the world of music. Anyway, in his blog post on Stephena.com, he veers far away from sports to politics. Conservatives question the legitimacy of Barack Obama, claiming a large segment of this nation is ignorant to what this Junior Senator from Illinois really represents. Upon entering the locker room, I walk into the middle of a very loud conversation!! The excited loudness was coming from this elderly white lady (think Golden Girls, the oldest lady on the show), very short and feisty with her expressison; real cute.

The lady seemed to be having a discussion with anyone who would listen. Since I'd just walked into the locker room, I didn't really pay much attention, I did however continue to ear hustle. As I tried to shake my sleep, I kept hearing the lady state, "we need a change, we just need a change". She grabs her bag to exit, and with sass, turns around to address the women in the locker room, "if you all do not vote for Barack Obama, I'm kickin' yo ass when I see you again". Whoa, talk about a morning wake up call. After I recovered from my confused laughter, I got the the lady's attention and told her to look at my shirt, it read, "Women for Obama". High fives, high fives. Whew, I was safe from her wrath.

I still didn't confirm my morning cuteness, but that was ok, I could care less what I looked like after that experience- because truly I was smiling, thanks to that lady.

So the moral of the story: Go to your gym's locker room, check on your cuteness, and look for an old lady and pray she makes you smile. Wearing a smile and being able to reference a smiling moment throughout the day is much cooler than being cute.

I hope I see her again before the election. I'll be sure to carry my camera phone in hopes of catching another one of her episodes. Loved her!

Speaking of the elderly, shout out to Cloris Leachman, the 82 year old Dancing with the Stars participant. She was kicked off the show yesterday, thanks to the hateration from judge Kari Ann Inaba. I love the elderly. They rock!

I went on an audition over the weekend for a television hosting gig. I would love to host and or produce a t.v. show relating to entertainment news, male/female relationships and politics. Co-hosting my monthly relationship forum, The Battle of the Sexes (we've been rockin' for 3 years...yeaaaahhh!!) and doing this blog truly serve as a source of inspiration. The audition was exhilarating and I would love to get "that" particular gig, but if don't, I enjoyed trying.

My BET Weekend....

I shifted my focus from CNN to BET to watch the repeat of the Hip Hop Awards. I know I'm late with show comments, but I gotta speak about the ladies of Hip Hop; weren't they HOT?!! I so loved their performance and those hip hop ciphers. Now, that's why I like hip hop! The rappers were flowin'. Jadakiss, Fab, Juelz, Hurricane Chris, and the new guys NICE. Jadakiss and a guy named Ace Hood. I am so feeling the flow of the lyrics, fellas. Jadakiss, "Mr. "I will stay in my lane, 'til it opens up". Love it.

Another thing on BET. Am I the last one to catch BET's new original show, The Somebodies? That's a pretty cool show. Hey now BET! As soon as this election is over, I will add more viewing channels to my selection.

According to 7-election.com, during the 2000 & 2004 elections, George W. Bush sold more cups than his opponents, Gore and Kerry. Hmmmm, 7-Eleven, I hope you're on to somethin'.

I support the cup campaign atleast 2 times a week. Everytime I walk into a 7-Eleven, I have to search deep to find an Obama cup. I think I have a taste for some hot chocolate....I know just where I would like to go.

During my quest to investigate how many artists use Auto-Tune (pitch correction technology) to adjust their vocals to make them sound better or for some other creative way of recording vocals (T-Pain) my ears have been so focused on the radio lately....I'll post my findings at another time. I will say this: the use of Auto-Tune is purely overkill, and featuring T-Pain or Lil' Wayne on a project, in my opinion does nothing for the artists featuring them, it actually adds more focus to T-Pain or Wayne.

Earlier this week I was invited by EMI Music's and Executive Producer, Rayshon Harris to attend a screening for the VH-1 documentary, NWA: The World's Most Dangerous Group. The documentary airs tonight (Friday, Oct 3rd). Looking back to the late 80's, NWA's, Straigh Outta Compton was in heavy rotation in my tape deck. NWA's music caused much dissention in my family----my dad loved them and was cool with the heavy rotation, and I believe borrowed the tape for his own listening pleasure at times, but my mother, oh lawwwwd....she actually destroyed the tape, unravelled its existence so much a # 2 pencil couldn't help me put it back together (Grown and Sexies-you feel me on the pencil and the cassette tapes, right?)

The documentary, narrated by Chris Rock (his funny is effortless) is well produced and I'm certain fans will appreciate the journey back to the late 80's/early 90's. Those who rep L.A. will have an instant connection to the footage in film. And the youth, who probably didn't know Dr. Dre was a member of another group before there was an NWA, or an Aftermath, will receive a history lesson. After watching the documentary, I gained a better understanding of Eazy E, the businessman.

A panel discussion moderated by writer Cheo Hodari Coker with DJ Yella and Eazy E's son, Lil Eazy followed the screening. John Singleton was in the audience and told his story of having to pay Eazy E. 50 grand to use the title, Boyz In The Hood for his critically acclaimed film of the same title.

Mr. McCain, now would be a good time for you to start trying to convince people, right now, at this time why you should run the country. Hey Creatiff Ones,

First, a shout out to those of you who reached out to me with your well wishes for my DNC trip. I was elated to receive those messages; I no longer think I'm the only one who reads my blog...LOL. Well, I am still on an emotional high and I become so overwhelmed when I re-live the experience that I seriously start to shed tears.

I went straight to NYC from Denver to attend a wedding and once I landed in the city, I had to immediately become a NY'er and I lost some of my emotional memories because the NY'ers were off the chain (smiles) as soon as I landed at JFK. You gotta just move and shake and get rude with folk in that city at times- still my favorite home away from home but the airport employees were straight off the chain for me on this trip. Welcome to NY for real. Anyhoo, there were sooo many amazing events and experiences that happended in Denver, I need to use this weekend to get all details together for this blog. Truly an amazing experience though. If you didn't attend the DNC, please consider the Inauguration in January. I have lots of pictures to share. I'm hoping to get them all out by Monday. My trip with 3 of my favorite girl-friends was truly a blessed experience.

Still trying to "google" as much as I can about her. I watched her now famous speech, but what's up with her, or any human down-playing community leadership? So crass!!Making light of a man who is a Harvard Law Grad, who decided to go back to an area of Chicago to be a bridge between the community and law-makers and help empower those United States citizens is extremely offensive to me, and I would assume any person who has a passion to serve. On another note, she delivered her speech as if she wrote it herself. She was confident but the content of her speech was empty and condescending. Oh, and trust, if Malia or Sasha Obama were of child-bearing age and got pregnant out of wedlock, there would be no-way the teen-pregnancy matter would be private and or the family's business only. (Neck rollin' with my hands on my hips) :)

This boy is HOT and so is his new smash single, Radio. If Musiq is anywhere close to a town near you...get there. You have to experience him and get ready to "rock out" to his new single. Besides, he's one of a few artists who's first single doesn't feature Lil Wayne or T-Pain. Now that's risky.....but there's always room for a remix. :)

I attended Musiq's performance in Denver at a DNC afterparty hosted by Perennial Strategy Group (who by the way, put on the most organized after-parties I've ever attended in my party life) Musiq is straight up a performer-he rocked us into a frenzy at his show. The crowd was entertained by the soulful child and his amazing band for 1hr 1/2. Please rock out with him-he's on tour this month and his project, onmyradio is slated for a late November release. It took me one quick minute to process his current single, "Radio", but only a quick minute because the song truly rocks- it's different for him. I spoke with him at the ASCAP Awards a few months ago and I mentioned how "different" his single was and he stated, "but it's not different for radio".

Hey Creatiff Ones,

This weekend was really busy. I co-hosted my monthly relationship forum. Lots of fun, crazy fun crowd as usual. Oh, also, I cut my hair-my real hair. For the purpose of expressing myself creatiffly, I love wearing weaves and wigs, I love, love them but I wanted to cut my hair into a style, and the short hair wigs just looked too "wiggy" to wear, so I decided to let go of my connection to "hair" and I told my sister (my hairstylist) to just cut and she did. I got used to it. I like it.

I attended church and heard an amazing message from the guest minister, his name is Bishop Brister out of New Orleans (google him). He spoke about Humility and Serving. Great message. I'm headed to Denver (for the DNC) and to New York for the Holiday weekend so my blogs will be delayed, so I wanted to at least post one for this week. Keep me and my traveling buddies in your thoughts as we've never been to Denver and I'm hearing the protesters are off the chain. I'm planning to do some video blogging from there so stay tuned for some possible updates from my Creatiff perspective.

Tiffany's Revelation Regarding Her Feet-LOL

Ok, I just want to share information on something I recently discovered about myself. For quite a few years I was under the impression that I had really nice feet. I mean, I love getting pedicures and trying out new polish colors to expose what I thought were cute feet in my flip flops. Well, a few weeks ago, I attended a car show and I spotted a car that was painted an orange color- similar to my toes. I decided to take a photo of my feet- (stop laughing Marcus-stop it)so I approached the car, and insert my feet into the photo to create what I thought would be an amazing effect-my toes, and the car matching. Well, honeychil', I snapped the photo with my 7.2 megapixel camera and all I can say is I wished that I had a 1.2 megapixel camera. I was like, "wait a dag on minute." Who's feet are in this photo? Not Ti Ti's. Oh no! (Marcus stop it-lol) Marcus is my boy, well former boy because he was laughing hysterically after I showed him the photo. Has anyone ever taken a photo of their feet, ladies? I don't know what to do with myself right now. I mean, I'm the Co-Chair of the Women Who Rock Flip Flops Society and I love flip flops and open toe shoes. I will wear flip flops to church. The megapixels on my camera showed my feet in a different perspective. I have NO photos of the feet.

Excuse the typos, if any. I'm in a rush and just wanted to make sure I did a blog posting before I left for my trips.

My boy/road dawg Marcus invited me as his guest to the FunkMaster Flex Car Show in Anaheim, CA. I'd never attended a car show competition, so I didn't know what to expect. I'm happy I was in the house. I didn't know building and designing cars was such the hobby it is. I had a great experience.

In other news, gas was down about .7 cents this weekend. Still $4 dollars, but atleast going in the down direction.

Sad Stuff

My weekend was also filled with extreme emotion. The passing of Bernie Mac just made me so sad. I'd heard a rumor last week and dimissed it, and to learn he would pass away a week later really bothered my soul. After catching an episode of his show on Saturday, ironically entitled, "Going Home", I started to smile because I realized he left us with lots of fun moments. "I'm gonna beat you until the white meat show"....LOL. Classic. Thanks Uncle Bernie!

Ok, here go my emotions again. So I get the bad news call while at the car show that Isaac Hayes passed away. We immediately check our email devices for confirmation and sure enough Wikipedia is confirming the update.

Two men who contributed greatly to the entertainment landscape. Thank you and God Bless!

Mary Mary-Get Up! This song right here is so uplifting. The beat is unique and hot. I wanted to jump out of the car at a light and just rock out. Although this song should get airplay on mainstream radio-and clubs, the message of the song is the stand out. "Get Up" will be my "rise and shine, have a great day song". As the Love Unlimited Orchestra, headed by Barry White, grooved to 'Satin Soul', suddenly, the arrangement screeched to a halt.

Something just wasn't right. Feeling disenchanted with the sound, perhaps taking his expertise for granted, the man that had so much to give needed more.

"I think we practiced this enough," the Maestro.

Marvin Gaye, echoing the sentiment, suggested something political.

"I love the way you made my jam Inner City Blues, jump," he shouted. "Let's run through that again."

"Nah, Sugar," a statuesque female uttered. "it's my time baby." The cream colored queen, with happiness sparkling in her eyes, strutted confidently to the front of the band. This woman, named Phyllis, finally found the love she never recieved on Earth from the Lord thirteen years ago, and was eager to sing its praises whenever the opportunity arose.

"Chill, Sister Hyman," Luther Vandross said. "Now you know that between you and me, girl, we got that love thing covered. The joy and pain of it all, the whole gamut. We need something fresh."

Johnny Griffin, the tenor saxophone genius known as the Little Giant, slapped hi-fives with his bee-bopping brother Miles Davis.

"Yeah, man," he concurred. Having recently arrived from France last month, he too felt the band needed an infusion of style. "We need a bad mutha."

James Brown and Gerald Levert, exchanging puzzled looks, couldn't for the life of them think of who to summon.

Suddenly barging in the heavenly auditorium was Redd Foxx, Robin Harris and Richard Pryor, arguing about the new addition to their Kings Of Comedy Tour.

"Ya big Dummy," Fred Sanford screamed. "We could use Bernie up here. He had me in stitches with his Def Jam routines."

Richard Pryor disagreed. "Nigga, Mac done got Cosby on us with that television show. He got all commercial on us.. He don't talk about f**** enough. All comedians talk about f*****. When the president was making speeches, we talked about f*****. Even the coolness of women who like it as much as we do. I remember the Playboy bunny..."

"Nobody's talking about f**** up in here, so shut up, ya test-tube baby!" Leave it to Robin Harris to Bring da pain. "Look at you with your cornrows, Richard. They tied so tight, that I bet you sleep with your eyes open. You had a T.V. show once too." Ever the bold one, Robin climbed up the stage stairs and grabbed Phyllis Hyman's hand.

"Those aren't press-ons," he announced.

Phyllis slapped his hand hand away.

"Shut-your mouth," she said, barely concealing her laughter.

At that instant, the whole room got silent. Humor and harmony becoming one, Comedy and composition congregating in a meeting of minds, Richard and Barry looked at each other, and smiled. Luther and Redd Foxx lowered the heads for a minute, then lifted them. Tears mixed with joy and pain ran a race to their chins. Gerald, Johnny and Miles gave each other skin, then hugged.

Barry White shook his head...

"Let's call Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes. We sure could use em, up in here." he suggested.

Everyone agreed.

"Sho Ya' right," They all shouted in unison.

"Cool," was all brotha Miles stated. "Cool."

Will's Thought: We lost to in the physical spirit. But the remain in the laughter shared, and the head nod of a cool melody. Give Praise to the journey, as they will give God so much fun in their own special ways. Rest in Peace, Bernie. God Bless You, Issac. Y'all were some bad mutha....It's Okay, Ya'll can say it.

Another One Gone: Issac Hayes Dead at 65

(CNN) -- Soul singer and arranger Isaac Hayes, who won Grammy awards and an Oscar for the theme from the 1971 action film "Shaft," has died, sheriff's officials in Memphis, Tennessee, reported Sunday.

Singer Issac Hayes seen performing in the U.K. last year. Hayes was found dead Sunday at age 65.

Relatives found Hayes, 65, unconscious in his home next to a still-running treadmill, said Steve Shular, a spokesman for the Shelby County Sheriff's Department.

Paramedics attempted to revive him and took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 2 p.m., the sheriff's department said.

No foul play is suspected, the agency said in a written statement.

"Actor/comedian Bernie Mac passed away this morning from complications due to pneumonia in a Chicago area hospital," his publicist, Danica Smith, said in a statement from Los Angeles.

LL Cool J- Rocks Yahoo's! Nissan Live Sets

Ahh, LL Live! When I learned from my girl Dana in Baltimore that LL would perform live in LA, I immediately reached out to my equally music obsessed friend Billy Johnson at Yahoo for his assistance in getting me into the show. Mission Accomplished! Thanks Billy! I've seen LL perform live many times but never in an environment as intimate and friendly as Nissan Live Sets, where the arist also participates in a Q&A session with the fans. The show, filmed in a state of the art soundstage will air on August 15th on Yahoo! Make sure you log on to check him rock out.

Past performers include: Christina Aguilera, Common, Sheryl Crow, Ne-Yo, Maroon 5 and many legends and chart toppers.

LL performed as many classics as he could fit into the live taping, such songs included: "Mama Said Knock You Out, Doin' It, Hey Lover, Loungin', Headsprung, and Around the Way Girl". He also performed singles, "Baby" and Heartbeat" from his soon to be release, Exit 13. One of the songs I was beyond impressed with during his performance was "Laptop Gangstas", which is featured on his Kay Slay Presents: The Return of the G.O.A.T mixtape cd. He performed an accapella version of the song, with the delivery of a poet ala Dej Poetry Jam. He talks about haters wanting him to give up on is career because he's been around for a long time, but he's sayin', "I still got it, why should I stop"? I concur. He describes himself as Classic instead of Old School or New School and understands his relevance and where he fits in the entertainment industry.

During the Q&A portion of the show, one giddy female fan asked if he could lick his lips for her, of course being the Lady Lover he is, he obliged. Geez, where is his Chap Stick commercial? Doesn't he have a deal with Chap Stick? Talk about a commercial I would love to be in.

Ok, so as I was snaping these photos of the work of art, the blessing to a woman's eyes, God's gift to the ladies and Simone's man, LL Cool J. I didn't realize in all the photos I took, there was a female in them. We really love him, huh? The above photos were taken after LL's taping of Yahoo Music's Nissan Live Sets web show. To help assist in the area of keeping thoughts pure, my friend Lashan, who attended the taping with me, suggested we refer to him as "Simone's Man". So every now and then I will insert that reminder, "Simone's Man".

Moving on, I know it's customary for many hip hop artists to "hate" on one another, but I am seriously suggesting that artists, especially new one's, study this man. Whenever the opportunity is available, observe him on or off the stage; he knows how to connect with people and leave lasting impressions.

His Def Jam project, Exit 13, which features the single, "Baby" w/ The Dream is available in-stores and online on September 9th. In the meantime, his first ever mixtape cd, produced by DJ Kay Slay, The Return of the G.O.A.T. is in the streets and it's lyrically impressive; and fellas, there's only one love song on the mixtape. :)

Eric Roberson - Get You Some ERRO

Check out Eric in video form for his single, "Pen Just Cries Away" from his....LEFT cd. His pen cries, wow! How awesome. So, I guess he's saying, "baby, I was trying to write a song about you- I was emotional, so instead of tearing up, I allowed the ink from my pen to do the crying".

That's my definition of creative expression, saying I love you in a different way. :)

One of the many highlights during Eric's show is when he freestyles, r&b style. He takes one word subjects from random audience members, puts them together and formulates what could actually serve as a hot song for his cd. The subjects shouted to Eric during his show this past weekend were, Nikes, HU (he's a Howard University Alumni),Obama, Inglewood, and sucking toes(that's 2 words, but he did it). Last year I had an opportunity to attend a press listening session for David Banner's album, The Greatest Story Ever Told.

Sitting in a Hollywood recording studio, guests listened ever so attentively as the animated Banner played tracks from his project. During the session, he also shared his views on the climate of the music industry, love, homelessness, education and there was no stopping him on the political front.

Last, David set up an opportunity for one lucky person to win some of "his money" by playing a game called, "name that artist"..... I must say, i was the lucky one, and the $100 dollars was a pleasant surprise. Thanks David! Oh and the artist, T.I...thank you too dear. Never play musical games when I'm around. :)

Gee wiz, not again. Miss USA, Crystal Stewart falls at this year's Miss Universe Pageant in Vietnam during the evening gown competition. If you recall last year, title holder Rachel Smith fell at the event during the same competition. What is really going on? Miss USA 2009, whoever you are, please consider wearing flip-flops next year. Falling is nothing nice, I fell a few years ago in front of my church-my heel broke. Celebrating their 25th Anniversary, New Edition was honored with the Golden Note Award by ASCAP at the Rhythm & Soul Awards. A top honor, awarded to artists for their enduring and innovative contribution to Rhythm & Soul music. Indeed a well deserved honor for the Beantown Boys.

ASCAP's Rhythm & Soul Awards, an annual event held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA, the day before the BET Awards also honored songwriters and publishers for their musical contributions for the year.

Below are photos from the red carpet arrivals. My angle on the carpet was to have the artists and songwriters discuss the influence New Edition had on their careers. I know they had projects to promote but most of the artists on the carpet credit New Edition for paving a way for their success so I wanted to do something creatiff. I approached the artists with questions like, "what is your favorite New Edition song, or who is your favorite member"? The idea went off well and it was very fun and funny to see artists flippin' out with excitement when asked those questions-the mood went from poised to silly fun, and ofcourse, I still asked every artist about their own personal accomplishments for the year as well as their upcoming projects. The video footage is coming soon, I promise.

I'm giving him the "hands on the hip" stance because he told he me would be performing Candy Girl & Cool It Now as part of the New Edition ASCAP Awards tribute. I'm like, "you betta do a good job, young man" and indeed he did.

Raheem DeVaughn straight came down the carpet in his Super Fresh hero gear...boom box and all. I think in this photo I was telling him he was my "play boyfriend in my head". I love those types of boyfriends. :) Nah, just kidding, I mean, I do like those types of boyfriends but I think I was asking him if he would shout out my site, and that it's pronounced (crea)Tiff and not (crea)Tive :)

Ok, before I go any further, please meet Stephanie Abdullah, publicist for Bobby Brown, and also my "play" twin sister, seperated at birth. We nicknamed one another "Twin" because we were born in the same hospital in St. Louis, spent our early childhood across the river in E. St. Louis, moved to Cali as pre-teens, but didn't meet one another until 7 years ago.

Stef and I have lived extremely similar lives before meeting-still do actually. The situation is so bizarre it would really take another blog to go into more details. Twin craziness at its best! Tiffany & Stephanie, oh, and don't even get me started on our name similarity and the same guys we've gone out with....such another blog for another time. By the way, she's the older twin. (Ha, Ha)

A monthly event in LaLa land put on by Music Executives, Radio Personalities and Mix Show DJ's at the world famous World on Wheels skating rink. I love all of the Soul Food Presents events.

A refreshing group of professional entertainment executives- keeping the fun alive. Their events bring out good people who love rockin' out. One of my favorite DJ's, Sketch, always plays my favorite skate song, "Anything" by SWV feat. WuTang, he's for sure alright with me.

CREATIFF CHATTER hits the red carpet, this time with a video camera and microphone. Kissed by the hot, hot sun. I put a baseball cap on, ditched the heels, rocked out in some sneakers and made it work on the carpet nevertheless.

Casual, comfy and cute was my theme for the afternoon.
